Every Class Will Include:

1. 10 –15  of fitness and/or motor movement development.  These activities will provide physical finess and movement components that include flexibility, cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular endurance, strength, speed, reaction time, agility, as well as loco-motor and non loco-motor movement.

2.  A main lesson focus which includes sport specific skills, games and developmental movement concepts.

3. Activity or fun game time.

Physical Education Shoe Policy

Wearing the wrong shoes can really impact a student’s safety and success during PE activities.  Shoes like boots, sandals, slip-ons, even dress shoes can get in the way with simple activities like running, jumping, and stopping.  It is important for students to wear proper footwear (i.e. tennis shoes, running shoes, or sneakers) in order to participate safely in class activities, and to be successful with those activities.  Your cooperation for their safety and active participation is very much appreciated.

Fitnessgram

The fitnessgram is Chetek-Weyerhaeuser’s fitness component.  We have children peer assess their scores.  This helps them learn such traits as honesty, integrity, leadership, flexibility, and trustworthiness.  I fitness test my students in September and in April (fall and spring trimesters).  Parents can access their student’s scores on the web site.  See directions below.

Height/Weight

The only test I administer is the height and weight test.  I do this because many students get sensitive about their weight and sometimes even their height.  I use a digital scale for their weight and rulers taped to my door starting at 3 foot and then one foot intervals.  Prior to weighing my students we discuss why we take our weight and height and why people are different heights and weights.
