PeaceKeepers

PeaceKeepers is a peer mediation program at Roselawn.  Peer mediation offers students who are in conflict the opportunity to work with trained 4th and 5th grade peer mediators who will assist them in resolving their problem through a step by step process.   These problems are typical, everyday issues that kids face during the school day that are often referred to teachers but could easily be resolved by the students themselves through a peer mediation process.

Students request mediations by completing a request form and placing it in a peer mediation mailbox.  Mailboxes and forms are located in both of our main hallways.  The 5th grade mediators are in charge of checking the mail, collecting the forms, and bringing them to the counselor.  The PeaceKeepers or the counselor contact the students and schedule the mediation, which takes place in the counselor's office.  All students at Roselawn are encouraged to request peer mediation when they need assistance in solving conflicts at school.

AWESOME KID PROGRAM

Roselawn staff and support staff are encouraged to recognize students when they are being exceptionally courteous and kind by filling out an AWESOME KID ticket.  The ticket is given to the student who will then drop it in the box located on the table outside Mrs. Bridges' guidance office.

On Friday of each week two names will be drawn out of the box.  These students will be given a small special prize and their names will be posted on the bulletin board.  All students who were given AWESOME KID tickets during the week will have their tickets posted on the AWESOME KID bulletin board located in the hallway across from the principal's office and a letter will be sent home to their parents to share the good news!  The names and tickets will remain on the bulletin board until the following Friday.

On the last school day of each month we will have a drawing for an AWESOME KID t-shirt.  All students who have received an AWESOME KID ticket will be eligible for the t-shirt drawing.
